Great restaurant that can order anything from restaurant the owner owns, so go here and you can order from two kitchens in 1. I really loved the deer here! If you can't get in the other, just go into this one.
The main courses were very good, but the starters were a bit on the meager side for the prices. The restaurant is in an old Brygge building, giving it that old world atmosphere. The service could have been better.
I've been thinking about writing this review for almost a year, the reason I hadn't come around to writing it, is because of how awful the food was, that even thinking of it still makes me nauseous. I made my decision to dine in at To Kokker based on the reviews, well, my bad for thinking these people have any sense whatsoever of what true cuisine is. Maybe I'm spoiled, having had the chance to try actual delicious food from all over the world has elevated my palate, and I hold food to a higher standard. The most disgusting dish I had were the scallops. Their menu states they are fried, the scallops we were brought were not fried, I thought it was a cold appetizer, those things came out from out of the kitchen still alive, the puree and sauce were cold, and bland. I still feel squeamish thinking about the disappointment. I'm not even going to get into how god awful the venison and duck were. Please, don't be afraid to season the food. Oh, almost forgot, we were the first table sat, and the server walked around without any acknowledgement of our presence. Thanks. Should've been my cue to leave. Food: 1/5 | Service: 3/5 | Atmosphere: 2/5
You definitely need to reserve a table in advance. The setting is very unique. The pan fried salmon main dish was delicious. All the elements were beautiful. What really annoyed me was the €3 for bread that we did not order (€1.50 pp). This was placed on the table and it was stale and hard and then the cheek to add it to the bill. The meal was by far the most expensive we had in Norway (€100 for 2 mains and 2 glasses of wine), it feels like tourists are being taken advantage of a little. The service was quick enough but we did arrive just before a big crowd. I enjoyed, but wouldn’t go back.
Great experinace, never been in similar restaurant, the atmosphere was great and very “old school” Norwegian. Food absolutely delicious! Very fresh, very tasty.
The place is a very cozy restaurant in the Bryggen, typical wooden house, sloping floors, very peculiar.... Excellent food, they have gluten free dishes. Very good quality in the dishes and in the attention of its employees
It was a lovely dinner experience at To Kokker. As my party was the first at the restaurant, it was a pleasant 100 min experience which I appreciated. I had the 5-course set meal, and every dish was perfect. My favorite food was the skin-on potato wedges which was a side for both the Cod and Deer Steak.
Absolutely, positively delicious very first meal in Norway! You must have a meal here when you visiting Bergen harbor! The service also wonderful, that always serves with a smile! The bread was so fresh and soft, I can make a meal out of them just with butter! Hansa beer also very good. Seafood soup are on the salty side and expensive, so not recommended My wife and I both ordered fish! Her cod fish and my Anglers fish are absolutely delightful and tasty! We may come back tomorrow to try their “set menu”!
